My university is on the semester system. I’d like to participate for O.U. credit, but O.U. is on the quarter system.

Lucky you!

  • You finish fall semester at your school about Christmas time.
  • You go home and get a job. You work, read, relax during January, February, and March, and you save lots of money.
  • At the end of March you fly to Greece and participate in 10-11 weeks of intensive study in Greek.
  • For that work you earn 16 quarter hours, which should transfer to your university as about 11 semester hours. That is, of course, a bit of a light course load, but it doesn’t put you dramatically behind where you would have been had you taken a normal 15 semester-hour load. If you think in terms of knowledge and experience instead of in terms of credit hours, you’ll be dramatically ahead.
  • If you foresee any difficulties in transferring credits, put us in contact with your adviser or department chair, and we’ll see what we can work out.
  • If all this seems too complicated, or your department won’t agree to it, see if your department will work with you to allow you to participate in the Greek-in-Greece program while remaining registered at your home institution. (Click the Students from Other Universities link.)
